Slabtown Marketplace

A striking green wall interspersed with weathered steel panels marks the entrance to the Slabtown Marketplace in northwest Portland. An old, renovated warehouse has been reinvented as a thriving market with a pedestrian plaza that serves as a forecourt to the grocery store and an essential link to the adjoining mixed-use district. The promenade design includes custom timber benches, perforated, weathered steel screens, concrete plank paving, and special concrete pavement treatments that pay homage to the neighborhood’s industrial roots.
