Park(ing) Day
Portland, Oregon
Park(ing) Day is a yearly event in which cities around the world participate to reclaim parking spaces and transform them into parks for a day. Lango Hansen’s installation, “Park It!” was conceived as a play on words in the form of large plywood letters faced in artificial turf. These letters functioned as park-like benches, a place to grab a bean bowl from the neighboring food cart, eat lunch, and chat with friends. The wood letters were supported by recycled cardboard packaging.
