Hotel Modera

The outdated motor-court of a 1960’s era motel has been reborn as a vibrant social space that is a distillation of the verdant Pacific Northwest landscape. Located along the  transportation mall in downtown Portland, hotel guests, restaurant patrons, and even curious passersby enjoy this urban oasis. The reclaimed courtyard, featuring a living wall, wood screens and outdoor fire tables, is an anchor for a restaurant and the renovated hotel. The 64-foot long living wall is a focal point of the lush courtyard and represents a pixelated abstraction of the Pacific Northwest itself, with its weathered steel panels alluding to outcroppings of basalt set within the rich textures of the forest.
