Tyrone S. Woods Memorial Park
Oregon City, Oregon
A new 9-acre park that balances protecting existing wetlands with providing active and passive open spaces, trails, interpretive areas, dog run and nature play area for the Oregon City community. Trails wind through wetlands and an old stand of native White Oak trees and provide connections to the site’s varied amenities. With over 20-feet of grade change, a large central grass area serves as a promontory overlooking the natural resources and new play area. The nature play area is comprised of hewn logs in a random pattern to provide a dynamic play feature, complimented by large stones excavated during construction. A new picnic shelter and restroom flank the large grass area and the city’s first off-leash dog run.
